The Alzheimer’s Association is using VolunteerHub to recruit volunteers to support its mission of eliminating Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research.

A Mission Focused on Impact

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and devastating brain disorder that affects millions of people each year. Currently, there are 5.8 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and the number is expected to rise to 14 million by 2050. Leading the fight against Alzheimer’s and Dementia is the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

The Alzheimer’s Association, headquartered in Chicago, IL, has branches all across the country and has made substantial contributions towards the fight to end the disease. The Alzheimer’s Association has invested $167 million in more than 500 projects throughout 27 countries and has helped secure 2.4 billion dollars, nationally, in government research funding.

Alzheimer’s Association (Central Ohio Chapter)

The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter, is using VolunteerHub to engage, recruit, and manage volunteers throughout their community. Each year, the organization, located in Columbus, OH, relies on the help of around 400 volunteers for advocacy, outreach, education, marketing, and event management, which includes their signature event, The Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year alone, the Central-Ohio Walk to End Alzheimer’s hosted more than 4500 people and raised close to a million dollars for research, education, and advocacy.

“We literally couldn’t operate without a strong volunteer-base. It takes a village to make an event like The Walk to End Alzheimer’s happen and it is a true community event that relies on support,” said Jason Abady, Community Engagement, and Development Support Manager, Alzheimer’s Association – Central Ohio

“Volunteers help us make The Walk to End Alzheimer’s a special event for families and the community. Without their support we wouldn’t be able to raise as much money for Alzheimer’s and Dementia research,” said Jason

 Need for Volunteer Management

The importance of volunteers and their impact on ending Alzheimer’s and Dementia is what has led the Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter, to invest in VolunteerHub’s volunteer management software as a key component of their volunteer program process. The organization uses VolunteerHub’s solution to recruit, register, and communicate with supporters throughout the community.

The Alzheimer’s Association, Central-Ohio branch, believes that volunteers have come to expect an online process for opportunity registration and supporters should be able to access their account anytime.

“Volunteers expect the ability to self-register for events and access their account whenever and wherever they are. VolunteerHub helps us exceed those expectations,” said Jason

VolunteerHub has helped to transform the Alzheimer’s Association’s (Central Ohio Chapter) entire volunteer management process. The organization uses VolunteerHub to create opportunities, promote them, register volunteers, and communicate actively with supporters. Investing in a cloud-based software solution for volunteer management has helped the organization reduce internal management time, increase volunteer program engagement, and quickly prepare for events, like The Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

“VolunteerHub provides internal and external convenience for our volunteer program. The solution can handle many events and opportunities making it an ideal solution for a growing organization like ours,” said Jason

The Alzheimer’s Association continues to make a difference in disease research and development while providing care and support for all families affected. The organization is involved in a national plan to fight Alzheimer’s and coordinate efforts towards the goal to prevent and treat the disease by 2025. Until there is a cure, The Alzheimer’s Association will continue to be a rallying voice for all those suffering from the devastating disease. With the help of VolunteerHub, the Alzheimer’s Association plans to continue to optimize its volunteer program and drive new awareness towards Alzheimer’s and Dementia now and in the future.
